TDSHS reports that the number of confirmed Texas COVID-19 cases has increased by 33% in the past two weeks.
The number of Texas deaths from COVID-19 has increased by 25% in the past two weeks. Although Texas
businesses and other activities have begun re-opening under the Executive Orders by Governor Abbott, the
need for maintaining restrictions on social gatherings, distancing, and facial coverings continues as the only
means of controlling the spread of the virus. Droplets expelled by infected persons is most common form
of spread of the virus. Widespread testing, identification of infected persons, and tracing of close contacts
for additional testing will be essential until a vaccine is available. Continued engagement by county
officials is needed to prevent loss of engagement by the public from “COVID fatigue”.
